More ‘Greener Salford’ vehicles join the electric fleet

A new tipper truck is the latest addition to Salford City Council’s electric vehicle fleet, taking their total to 19 vehicles.

The ‘Greener Salford’ electric truck is now out and about across the city, being used by the streetscene team when they’re emptying litter bins and removing litter and fly-tipping.

It joins the Greener Salford electric vans, used by the council’s facilities, pest control, trading standards and waste and recycling teams, in helping to improve air quality in the city.

The majority of carbon emissions in Salford come from transport (39%) so the council is committed to switching to electric vehicles when possible. Over the coming years, they will be investigating charging infrastructure at their depots and piloting more electric vehicles, including road sweepers, bin wagons and cargo vans.
