Salix Homes diverts 360 tonnes of furniture from landfill sites

Furniture including sofas, sideboards, wardrobes, lamps

Salix Homes’ furniture recycling scheme collects unwanted furniture, household items and white goods and gives them free of charge to their customers who need them the most.

So far, over 3,000 items have been donated and given to customers, saving around £70,000 in tipping costs.
This service is open to Salix Homes’ tenants who are on benefits such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or if you’re claiming your Pension.

If you’re a Salix tenant and not on benefits, but you’re experiencing financial hardship, Salix may still be able to help so get in touch with them. You can apply yourself to access the scheme, and if you meet the criteria, you’ll be given an appointment to come along to the furniture warehouse in Salford and choose what you need.

Salix aim to provide up to four items of furniture per household, but if you need more Salix can discuss this with you. They can deliver your new furniture for you for a delivery fee of £10.

They have a well-stocked warehouse of good quality, clean, pre-loved furniture and homeware that have either been donated or left behind by a tenant who has moved out. It includes things like sofas, beds, tables, drawers and white goods like fridges, freezers and washing machines. There are also smaller items like mirrors, lamps and ornaments to help transform your house into a home.

If you’ve got any household items that could go to a home that needs them, email [email protected] and Salix Homes will get in touch.
