Zero-Waste Shop at Salford Museum & Art Gallery
A zero-waste shop, funded from the Heritage Lottery Fund ‘Steps to Sustainability’ programme, has been set up with the support and guidance of Salford’s first zero-waste shop, The Dispensary, based in Walkden Shopping Centre, who have selected and sourced the products on behalf of the Museum.
The shop features well known ethical brands such as Alter/Native, Upcircle and Miniml Toiletries & Cosmetics, as well as easy zero waste accessory swaps, such as linen bags, bamboo cloths and reusable containers. There is also a dedicated range of eco reading materials to help support people wanting to make wider changes in their life to be more sustainable.
The most exciting feature of the new pop up is a dedicated Refill station, where people can bring empty bottles and containers and refill with ethical toiletries and cleaning products.
Profits made from the shop will go directly back into the purchase of more ethically soured products for the museum shop.
The shop, inside the museum, is open weekdays from 9.30am-4.00pm and weekends 11:30am-4.00pm (except for Bank Holidays).
The Dispensary, Walkden Shopping Centre, is open Tues 10-6, Wed-Sat 10-4 and Sun 12-4 with a wider range of dried food goods, gifts and fresh fruit and veg available.
